The Ophiuchus constellation lies in the southern sky, near the celestial equator. Its name means “the serpent bearer” in Greek. If you only observe in the first half of the night, Ophiuchus is not so easy to observe. In June and July the night is too short and too bright and in August, after dusk it is only just above the horizon and the southern part is just as prone to drowning in haze.
